Customer’s Dilemma and Target

For business expending, Advanced Networking Technology Cooperation (ANT Co.) plans to add more servers for Internet services. The problem is the space in their data center at 12th floors is not enough to expend more servers. There is no room large enough to settle down all servers. They got a small room in the same building but the room is located at 8th floors and far away from the original data center. They hope two MIS engineers can stay in two data centers respectively and monitor all servers without rushing between the two rooms.

　

Micronet Solution

Micronet engineer discussed with ANT Co. MIS people, and verified the network environment and their constraint such as the distance between two rooms and how many servers in each one, and made the strategy as following：

• Set up Dual Console KVM Switch SP236 in each room.

• Cascade by using KVM Switch SP226.

• Extend the console with KVM Extender SP201-320.

• Use cat. 5e UTP cable to link the KVM Extender’s Receiver and Transmitter.

SP236 can be cascaded up to 1024 computer connection. It can meet a wide range expanded. SP201-320 can extend KVM switch up to 320 meters, so don’t worry about the actually length from Transmitter to Receiver.
