Micronet ADSL Router provides the third option in addition to routed
and bridge mode. The solution overcomes the performance problem in
setting VPN tunnel over PPPoA connection
Customer’s Dilemma and Target
Hanspeter Dettwiler, a successful project manger in Foundation
International Industrial Limited, is going to improve the
communication among headquarter and 5 branch offices distributed in
United Kingdom. He plans to setup a secure enterprise network and
share resources through Internet. The PPPoA account is provided in
the branch office area, but the problem is that “PPPoA service does
not support bridge mode so VPN Router should be setup behind the
modem in such situation, but the architecture slows down the Router
and VPN performance seriously.”
Micronet
Solution
Micronet
made the scenario according to the past experience in PPPoA service:
-
SP3351's Half-Bridge-Mode assigns the WAN IP to the VPN Router
then the router can work fine just like it is behind an ADSL
bridge.
-
Establishing VPN and backup tunnel for each office. The
connection has to be recovered in a few minutes while the tunnel
being shut down improperly or unintentionally for the customer
demand. Among Micronet broadband products, SP889 can meet the
requirement and provides suitable secure protection on the
virtual network.
-
Add
and enable protocol on all the computers then clients can browse
remote server and share resources through the IPSec VPN tunnel.
SP3351 can handle the data traffic among all offices. SP889
provides enough VPN tunnels, which set up the virtual network
and keep backup tunnels for each office. This architecture
settles down virtual network over Internet, besides, it allows
clients surf Internet simultaneously.

Micronet
provides the exact solution to our need of constructing the network.
It feels so well that all branch offices work together. The VPN
tunnel synchronizes all data and information through the whole
enterprise. Now, we can work more productive due to all resource
sharing in no time.
